Following Jesus isn’t an emotion or a convincing thought,
It’s a decision to give all you have, to allow yourself to be bought.
But before you decide or jump right in,
Think about the costs, sit down and weigh them.
Following Jesus will cost you everything,
That is why it’s not forced, why you have to be willing;
Be prepare to leave it all and to daily take up your cross,
So that you will remain obedient and your efforts won’t be lost.
To start and not finish would be unforgivable, putting Him to open shame,2
To do this would be trampling under foot the Son of God, an abuse of His Name.3
That’s why there is a greater punishment for those who turn away,4
Because they knew His grace and yet chose the Devil’s way.
So fear God and make your decision on a sober mind,3
So you will follow Him correctly, leaving everything behind.
